This painting definitely told me her title. The snake drawing on the envelope, bird flying into the chest, gold dropping out of her hand, butterfly on her foot – all unfolding through layers of fabric and paper, acrylic on canvas creating broken areas and patched areas.

There is a boldness to her forward movement as though she can’t be stopped by anything that crosses her path.

Someone asked me if I used a live model 😂 I couldn’t help but chuckle thinking that I’d have to move fast with energy as powerful as hers coming at me in the studio. But in a way, there was a live model – me, or at least the power I aim to embody.

When my husband and I were dating long distance, we wrote love letters to each other.

He kept every single one.

When I recently brought them up, he told me I COULD NOT use them for collage—ah well!

This installation in the window brings together the simple pleasure of playing a game together or going on a weekend trip (Esalen)! I love a long drive or watching the sunset. What do you like to do with your honey?

This piece is 10” x 10” and made from collage, Scrabble letters, paper, and acrylic.

This piece symbolizes making the best of times with what’s at hand— a reminder to always begin where you are, with what you have. A little inspiration for myself, and hopefully for you, too.
