Everyone knows we have great restaurants and bars. What a scene! Small independent eateries, bakeries, bars and restaurants – so good! I mean really good and my family hasn’t even been to all of them yet! This corridor of gastronomy and crafty cocktails is also LOADED with artists sharing beautiful works. Public art, art in the cafes and restaurants, galleries, open studios…pay attention and come take a look at what is happening.
A new Arts Council for Lafayette, Orinda and Moraga has been formed.
It will take some time to make the wide turn into this new 3 city Arts Council, Lamorinda Arts Council but that never stopped us innovators before. And we want to show you in new ways, the richness of art – not just 2d art, but literature, performance, sculpture, music and more. Become a member and help support the programs throughout the year, get discounts to local theater and art classes at the Art Room in Lafayette.
Here at the gallery we have hosted and will continue to host local author Amy Glynn. An award winning writer, she has read her prose and poetry, signed and sold her books here and moderated readings with our local partner, St. Mary’s College MFA Creative Writing Program. Amy will be forming the literature arm of the Lamorinda Arts Council.
This past Season has been full of rich collaborations with painters, writers, fashion designers, jewelers, foodies and the new members of our community at Merrill Gardens, a senior independent and assisted living facility. Jennifer Perlmutter Gallery has dispatched teachers to instruct intuitive drawing among other enrichment classes for residents. This is an exciting time in our town. Thanks for your support of local art and art programs. After all, art is the bread of life!
