Deborah Benioff Friedman takes over our Blue Room with her new exhibit Shadow Box
Most of the pieces in this exhibition were made from cardboard boxes that have been deconstructed and reassembled and then treated in various ways: soaked in water and paper pulp, painted, wrapped, or pierced with wire, sewn, sanded, squashed, or sprayed. They have been worked and reworked, so that the original rectangular framework is compromised. Many of them suggest abodes, but neglected, worn by time, wind and water, the buildings returning to their material origins by means of collapse, age, decay, or weather.
