This new collection represents the last 12 months of life on the Monterey Peninsula (although some works have sold and gone home with collectors) Living on the peninsula and focusing on this 1 gallery has allowed me to explore and grow. This is reflected in the figures which represent freedom, letting go, and the rise and fall of expectations, relationships, and control.
The landscape along the coast and in the forest is dynamic and captivating. I paint the essential qualities; pine trees on the ridge, an edge of ocean horizon, the feeling of pine needles in the chaotic forest floor…there is no topping the natural world. In the abstract, I reach for the unseen qualities of the landscape.
